Houseplants bring any space alive, give it energy, warmth and the feeling of being at home.
Selecting the right plants for spaces you don't always visit can be difficult for even the most green-fingered of people!
Here are my top tips for selecting the right plants and ensuring that they stay their best for the longest time possible:
-Use the compass on your smart phone to check the direction your windows face: in the UK south facing windows get the most light, north facing the least. Check plant labels for their light needs.
-Plants that you might usually find in an office or commercial environment (Snake plants, Philodendrons, ZZ plants) are ideal for listings as they can go a while without water and don't need a lot of light to stay alive!
-Never select plants that have high light and water needs, as guests will often not open curtains and window dressings, and certainly won't notice when your plants need a drink.
-Ensure that your housekeeping team water, prune and rotate your plants on a regular basis to make sure they are always at their best! If a plant starts to look leggy or starts to die, remove it from your listing and take it home where you can care more easily for it.
